Farm owners, tenants, and decision makers involved in agroforestry are invited to take part in a new research study exploring the realities, challenges and lived experiences within the sector. The study forms part of a university research project and aims to better understand both the opportunities and pressures shaping agroforestry today.
Led by student researcher Toby Cox, the project focuses on gathering insights from those directly engaged in agroforestry systems. As interest in sustainable land use continues to grow, agroforestry is increasingly recognised for its potential to balance environmental, economic, and social outcomes. However, the day-to-day experiences of practitioners, particularly the challenges they face, remain underrepresented in current research.
Through a series of short and informal interviews, the study will explore key themes such as decision-making processes, operational challenges, economic pressures, and the practical realities of integrating trees into farming systems. The findings aim to contribute to a clearer understanding of how agroforestry works in practice and where further support, innovation or policy attention may be needed.
Participants are invited to take part in a brief online interview, typically lasting around 15 minutes. All contributions will be recorded anonymously and used solely for academic research purposes.
