Carob is gaining renewed attention as a resilient Mediterranean crop with strong economic and cultural potential. Against this backdrop, the Spanish municipality of Alcalalí will host “Garrofa: Cultiu, Territori i Futur / Algarroba: Cultivo, Territorio y Futuro” on 26 June 2026, in the context of the local Saint John festivities.
The programme includes a shared meal, visits to local heritage sites, a visit linked to the local carob initiative, and a round table featuring experiences and initiatives on the cultivation, transformation and commercialisation of carob. The event will conclude with an open debate.
