Forestry professionals and researchers are invited to contribute to a new study exploring how biodiversity indicators are understood and used in planted forests.

As part of the BIOFUN project, an international initiative focused on improving biodiversity integration into forest management, a short online questionnaire has been launched targeting forest managers and forest scientists. The survey aims to capture current perceptions of biodiversity indicators, including their practical value, their functional links to forest ecosystems, and the key challenges associated with their use.

The study also seeks to identify barriers that may limit the adoption of biodiversity indicators in planted forest management, as well as potential solutions to support their more effective integration into decision-making processes.

Participants can complete the questionnaire in either English or French. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes, and will remain open until 20 July 2026. All responses will be collected anonymously and analysed in aggregated form.

About

The survey is led by the University of Padua and the FCBA Technological Institute, and co-funded by the European Institute of Planted Forest (IEFC), a multi-actor network promoting the sustainable management and resilience of planted forests.
