The European Forest Institute (EFI) will take part in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC25), the world’s leading event for cities and urban innovation, taking place in Barcelona on 4–6 November 2025.
This year’s edition is expected to bring together over 25,000 professionals, 600 speakers, 1,100 exhibitors, and representatives from more than 850 cities worldwide. Since its launch in 2011, the Smart City Expo has become a premier platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and the presentation of market-ready solutions that make cities better places to live.
EFI will contribute to the programme with a keynote presentation by Senior Researcher Matilda van den Bosch, who will speak on the health benefits of trees and green infrastructure in cities. The exact session details will be announced soon. Through its Biocities Facility and wider research on urban forests, nature-based solutions and the circular bioeconomy, EFI will highlight the role of nature in shaping healthier, more resilient and inclusive urban environments.
