AF4EU and SUS-SOIL projects joined “Suelos Vivos: European Innovation to Transform Galicia,” a regional event organised by FEUGA in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, to celebrate World Soil Day. With over 50 attendees, the event spotlighted the importance of preserving soil quality and showcased innovative solutions tailored to Galicia’s unique agricultural needs. Two panel discussions addressed challenges such as carbon farming, biodiversity measurement, and pollution management, highlighting practical solutions for the region.
AF4EU and SUS-SOIL actively contributed to the panel on “Nutrient Management and Carbon Farming,” with researcher Nuria Ferreiro from the University of Santiago de Compostela presenting the projects advancements in agroforestry, soil health, and innovations like RAINs or Living Labs. Discussions also explored wildfire impacts on soil health, sustainable farming to boost biodiversity, and AI-driven technologies for resilient agriculture, emphasising collaboration and supportive legislation. The event culminated in the Soil Hub Fair, featuring interactive stands, flash presentations, and workshops.
