The project “Entangled Destiny: Humans and Trees of the Mediterranean”, supported by the National Geographic Society, is on a mission to explore the deep connections between people and trees in the Mediterranean. Magda Bou Dagher Kharrat, principal scientist of the European Forest Institute Mediterranean Facility and Professor at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (Lebanon) is joining two other National Geographic explorers, Maria Contreras Coll and Sara Camnasio, for this multi-disciplinary research and storytelling project exploring the ancient linkage between Mediterranean communities and olive, carob, and stone pine trees.

Magda, Maria, and Sara have started their journey across the Mediterranean countries (Italy, Spain, and Lebanon) to share information regarding the ecological and cultural relevance of olive, carob and stone pine while collecting stories reflecting local traditional knowledge.
