After the successful congress last editions, the Fire in the Earth System (fES) Congress 2025 will be held from 2 to 5 June 2025 in Setubal (Portugal) and in November 2026 in Kruger Park (South Africa).
Célia Gouveia, Yannis Daliakopoulos and Artemi Cerdà will be the organizers of the meeting, that will consist on 3 days of conferences, 1 day field visit, and 4 days preconference tour.
The call for scientific and stakeholder sessions is now open, and the new website of the congress will be launched along the next weeks. If you wish to organize any activity (sessions open for submission, open discussions, seminars, debates, training schools, and more) please contact celia.gouveia@ipma.pt and artemio.cerda@uv.es.
The requisites are:
- Title
- 2-4 organizers
- 200-words abstract
- 4-6 keynotes.
Submissions on fire-related topics are welcomed, including fire dynamics, the effects of fire on ecosystems (such as water, soil, atmosphere, and biota), the role of fire in ecosystem evolution, as well as its impacts, risks, and hazards. The conference will also address the role of fire in socio-economic and spatial planning, fire prevention, media coverage of fire, and the management of fire and forests.
New and innovative ideas related to the world of forest fires are welcome, both, from the scientific and stakeholders (policies, management and land use) background. Feel free to share with the organisers your thoughts about how to make fEs2025 more enjoyable.
