EFIMED is looking for an events and project support trainee!

The European Forest Institute’s Mediterranean Facility (EFIMED), located in Barcelona, Spain, is currently looking for a candidate to fill an events and project support trainee position. The EFIMED Facility focuses on creating sustainable value from Mediterranean forested landscapes.

Your tasks will include

  • Assisting the team in the planning and organisation of the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW), 4-8 November 2024, Barcelona, Spain. 
  • Supporting the coordination of event registration processes and associated platforms. 
  • Supporting the smooth running of events on the week. 
  • Assisting the team in executing Horizon Europe projects:
    • Adapting the information gathered by the project FOREST4EU about 175 innovations developed by operational groups across Europe into the format of concise factsheets to upload them into international knowledge repositories (e.g. EU-FarmBook).
  • Actively contributing to the team’s day-to-day operations.

What you will learn

  • You will work in a multicultural environment and join an international team dedicated to promoting international cooperation on environmental issues.
  • You will strengthen your event organisation skills and develop a strategic approach to event management. 
  • You will attend the 8MFW, a great opportunity to network with international stakeholders and develop your knowledge on Mediterranean forest topics.
  • You will get first hand experience in the practical workings of international research projects such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, etc.

Traineeship conditions

  • Duty station will be EFI Barcelona Office, Spain.
  • Paid monthly traineeship allowance.
  • Duration of traineeship will be 3-4 months, starting September 2024.

Please note that if you are part of the Spanish Social Security system, to carry out the traineeship you must be enrolled at a university.

Job requirements

  • A university degree related to communications, environment, or related fields.
  • Practical experience with events organisations.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish and / or other Mediterranean languages are an asset.
  • Ability to work Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), WordPress or similar CMS, and design softwares.
