The 55 International Symposium on Forest Mechanization (FORMEC) and the 7 Forest Engineering Conference (FEC) will be hosted in Florence, Italy, by the University of Firenze and the National Council for Research (CNR), in collaboration with Regione Toscana and the Italian Academy of Forest Science. The conference is supported by IUFRO Division 3 Forest Operations Engineering and Management.
For more than 50 years, FORMEC has kept bringing together researchers, practitioners and government officials from different countries to share state-of-the-art knowledge about harvesting operations, with a focus on steep terrain. This year’s meeting consists of a one-day pre-tour and a two day technical conference on new developments in forest engineering. The event is organized back-to-back with AUSTROFOMA: BOKU will organize optional transportation for those who wish to move few hours North and visit the iconic Austrian show.
