The #EyesOnEarth contest has just been launched on the occasion of the the World Environment Day. It aims to highlight the importance of environmental preservation and promote sustainable business models in eight countries in Southern Mediterranean: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia.
After two successful editions of the #EyesOnGreen and #EyesOnBlue regional competitions, DG NEAR, EU Neighbours South, the SwitchMed/MedWaves programme, and ENI CBCMED, are teaming up with the European Forest Institute Mediterranean Facility for this third edition named #EyesOnEarth, that is all about forests.
Aligned with the new EU forest strategy for 2030, the contest gives voice to change-makers and innovators to showcase sustainable business models and social innovation tackling forest-related problems and threats to the biodiversity and the environment in the Mediterranean.
The #EyesOnEarth contest is open to professionals, civil society organisations, community-based organizations, and NGOs working on sustainable practices in the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood countries. As highlighted in the competition guidelines, the contest targets projects and initiatives related to biodiversity conservation, forest regeneration, forest-based bio-economy, and circular economy strategies.
