After a successful global consultation, the first version of the Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) is now finalised and will be launched on the 23 July 2020 in a high-level virtual event.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is launching the Nature-based Solutions series of events in the run-up to the IUCN World Conservation Congress in January 2021, with the launch of the first World Standard for NbS and a call to action. The organization invites stakeholders from around the world who are interested in participating in the launch of the Global Standard to join the live broadcast event on the IUCN Youtube channel:
- High level virtual launch event. 10:00 – 11:00 AM (Central European Summer Time).
- High level panel discussion. 4:00 – 5:00 PM (Central European Summer Time).
The event will consist of two high-level events with worldwide representation. IUCN will welcome leaders, advocates of NbS in all regions and sectors to establish a joint vision, as well as commitments to turn NbS into action, through the Standard. The Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions aims to help governments, NGOs and businesses design, invest and scale up action. It is the first comprehensive tool that will help design robust and lasting actions to deliver benefits for people and nature.
