The 8th Spanish Forestry Congress (8FCE) will be held in Lleida, Spain, in mid-June 2021 with the aim of bringing together the entire scientific and technical forestry community in the country and sharing the research work and numerous practical applications of the forestry sector over the last four years.

On this occasion, the organizers of the Congress wish to highlight the fundamental role played by the forestry sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, an intergovernmental initiative launched with the aim of involving other institutions – public and private – as well as civil society.

Looking ahead to 2030, the objective of implementing a new agenda for the sustainable development of our planet is now presented “more than ever”, as a goal impossible to achieve if we do not act with solidarity and responsibility, each from the role we have been assigned. Therefore, in this Spanish Forestry Congress the participants and speakers will show how forestry science researches, tests and implements valid and essential practices to achieve the objectives of this new agenda that has as a general goal “to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all”.

Although the work of the forest sector may seem to be limited exclusively to Goal 15 (sustainable forest management, combating desertification, halting and reversing land degradation and halting biodiversity loss), foresters are willing to demonstrate that their work goes much further.
