AgroForestry Innovation NETworks (AFINET), is a thematic network that aims to foster exchange and the knowledge transfer between scientists and practitioners in the agroforestry. AFINET acts at EU level in order to translate research results into practice and to promote innovative ideas to address challenges and resolve problems faced by practitioners.

During a conference partly hosted at the European Parliament in Brussels, AFINET is organising two events to support and share the important work carried out by coordination among AFINET’s consortium of 13 partners from 9 European countries, including ISA-University of Lisbon.

On 9 December, 2019, AFINET will host a conference called “Agroforestry knowledge-based innovation:bringing scientists and practitioners together.” Following opening remarks by Isabel Carvalhais from the S&D Group and a presentation of project results by the project coordinator, Prof. Rosa Mosquera-Losada, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, a panel discussion and audience Q&A will bring together farmers and key stakeholders from across Europe to discuss agroforestry and innovation.

The following day, 10 December 2019, also in Brussels, AFINET will hold its Final Conference – Fostering Agroforestry Transition. In this meeting, key project actors will present the main project results, including the knowledge cloud and agroforestry innovation handbook. Another diverse roundtable discussion and audience Q&A session will be followed by a report of the conference in the European Parliament by Dr. Anastasia Pantera, a member of the AFINET External Advisory Board, from the Agricultural University of Athens.
