From 25 to 27 March 2020, the conference “Mixed species forests: Risks, Resilience and Management” will take place in Lund, Sweden. This event is organised by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

The conference is designed as an arena for debate and communication between researchers from different disciplines as well as forest managers and policy makers. Sessions will focus on knowledge about the ecology of mixed forests and how to manage them to sustain production and carbon sequestration as well as mitigate abiotic and biotic risks. Through this event, it is expected to increase further knowledge of these forests as they are considered a strategic means to adapt forest management to climate change.

For those interested in presenting their research at the event, the call for abstracts is open until 1 November 2019. A selection of communications presented is planned to be published in a special issue of the international journal Forest Ecology and Management.
