On 6 and 7 November, the meeting “Forest modelling in the information age: challenges and solutions for an uncertain future” will be held at the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC) in Solsona, Lleida. It will be a space for meeting, reflection and debate on the current state of forest modelling in Spain, its role in facing the challenges posed by global change and future challenges as a discipline.
Currently, technological advances provide a greater availability of data, especially from remote data sources (LiDAR, satellites…). Therefore, the forestry sector is in a context where it is necessary to use tools that allow these data to be processed in an appropriate way in order to draw useful conclusions for forestry science and practice.
Under the framework of the 5th Meeting of the Forest Modelling Working Group, the participants in the meeting will be able to integrate disciplines such as forest growth and productivity modelling, forestry and adaptive management, or the quantification and economic valuation of ecosystem services.
