On 11 June, EFIMED was invited to the 3rd Workshop on the role of H2020 Thematic Networks (TN) in EU Agricultural Innovation, organised in Brussels. Representatives of the 29 thematic networks on agricultural innovation were present.

The Innovation Networks for Cork, Resins and Edibles (INCREDIBLE) project, which is coordinated by EFIMED, was one of the ten thematic networks chosen to be presented: it was the only one involving wild (non-cultivated) products. The project has created and fosters five international networks of innovation in non-wood forest products.

During the workshop, in addition to networking with researchers facing similar challenges in coordinating the pan-European TNs, attendees were also able to have close contact with four transversal thematic networks: LIAISON, EURAKNOS, AgriLink and FAIRshare. They can support the current TN by optimising and accelerating innovation processes, hosting knowledge in a single place, facilitating dialogue through advisory tools, and addressing and making digital tools and FAIR services with an online inventory, respectively.

These TNs have brought together the knowledge of research and practice and translated it into ready-to-use insights, overviews and recommendations. In recent years they have helped to generate greater knowledge on specific issues as well as accelerate innovation and implementation of initiatives in the field of agriculture, involving the sector, stakeholders and civil society.
