2-3 April 2019, Montpellier, France.
The AFORCE network (French Network Dedicated to the Adaptation of Forests to Climate Change) has spent the past ten years sharing and transforming knowledge on forests and climate change.
Scientists, technical advisers, teachers, trainers, and public and private forest managers make up the network, seeking to define knowledge into operational terms, and reassemble it into useful decision-making tools for practitioners, forest advisers and managers. A decade later, it is time to take stock of these actions.
The AFORCE network and its partners invite those who have followed the network since its creation, and those who wish to discover it, to celebrate its 10th anniversary during the 2019 AFORCE Symposium. This symposium will present the latest projects and results and reflect on the network’s path since its beginning.
Symposium Objectives
The main target of this symposium is to present the latest results of projects supported by the AFORCE network in order to provide support to decision making in the context of climate change. Some European initiatives will be presented and discussed in order to share the best practices of adaptation.
The presentations will concern different topics in which the network has been invested:
- Selection of tree species and provenance
- Strategies of adaptation, innovations and new management practices
- Risks and economical assessment of management decisions
The different sessions will open the perspectives for the next program of AFORCE 2020-2025. We hope many of you will attend to discover our network or to share your experience with us.
