EFI Director, Marc Palahí, has been awarded the Medal of Honour from the Spanish foresters association “Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Montes” for professional work in the international arena.

The prestigious award is one of a selected number, honouring professionals acting with distinction in the public, private, international and academic sectors.

The award was presented in Madrid on 4 October 2018, on an occasion celebrating the organisation’s patron saint, St Francis of Assisi. With representation from the Spanish Ministries of Ecological Transition and Agriculture, Fisheries & Food, a keynote talk was given by Alfonso San Miguel of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. This was followed by the unveiling of a centennial ulmus minor log inscribed with a chronology of events related to nature conservation in Spain between 1848 and 2014.
